Class audience feedback

Here are photos of the class audience feedback we acquired from presenting our pitch for our indie music video, along with the questions that were asked on our pitch:

1. Do you feel that our concept is suitable for our target audience? If so why? If not why not?
2. Do you think that our idea is achievable?
3. Do you feel that anything in our pitch is not going to work? Why?
4. Do you think that our clothing and makeup aspects of our music video are appropriate for our genre?
5. What would you expect to see in an indie music video?

From presenting our pitch in class, we have gained some valuable audience feedback.
When looking at our feedback, the general consensus was that the concept we have chosen to use suits the indie genre that we have chosen, and also we have been told that the concept works well because it has many redundant features, and it is a common concept found in other indie music videos.
We also found out that our clothing and make-up choices seem suitable for the genre, however one point was made in which it was noted that perhaps too much of a 'country' style in regards to the clothing aspect may confuse the audience, making them think that our music video fits into the country/folk music genre opposed to the indie music genre. Therefore, we have decided to step away from more of the 'country' clothing aspects and focus on simple, casual clothing such as plain jumpers, boots, and skinny jeans.
Here are some examples:

From looking at the answers we received from question 3, "Do you feel that that anything in our pitch is not going to work? Why?" we were told that perhaps it may be hard to gain access to the Ludlow Assembly rooms in order to film our stage scenes. After taking this into consideration, although we will ask for permission to use the assembly rooms, if this is not possible we will then ask permission to use the college drama studio in order to film our stage scenes within our video, which will perhaps be a more plausible and easy way of gaining access.
From the last question we asked, "What would you expect to see in an indie music video? we were informed that:
  • A mixture of narrative and performance would be expected
  • Slow paced edits
  • Use of guitar
  • Outdoor locations
  • Use of a love interest in the narrative
All of the above are features which we will include in our own music video as from our research we found these to be generic and key conventions of the indie music genre. These aspects have also been reinforced by our class feedback and so therefore we are going to continue using them.

Overall, the class feedback has been helpful in discovering which aspects of our music video will and wont work, and where we perhaps need to improve/change certain things to enhance and connect to our target audience better.
Next, I will be collecting some feedback from our specific target audience.
