Five sections of an indie music video - The Narrative Arc

I have chosen to focus my my blog post about the five different sections of a music video on Ellie Goulding - Figure 8
The five different sections of a music video are found when looking at The Narrative Arc:

1ST SECTION:
The first section of the video finishes at 0:16 and is indicated via mis-en-scene aspects such as low key lighting, black and white camera effect and also the lack of the main artist, Ellie Goulding, being present. An aspect of Andrew Goodwin's theory also appears int he first section where synthenasia is also used as the lyrics match the visuals. The lyrics during this screenshot are: "Breathe your smoke into my lungs" and a mans chest is shown and also smoke rises from the corner of the screen.
2ND SECTION:
The second section then begins and Ellie Goulding is shown. The use of the mis-en-scene aspect of colour is used when Ellie Goulding is shown and the handkercheif she is holding is red, perhaps connoting love/passion. As the song 'Figure 8' actually refers to a love that cannot be reached, hence the 'figure 8' as it is an infinity loop.
3RD SECTION:
At 1:02 the third section of the video begins and this is signified by the sudden change in tempo of the song, as the chorus begins. Also the tempo change is matched to the new visuals which haven't been seen previously in the video.
Low key lighting is used for the background as the background is completely black, however high key lighting is used on the artists face which connotes that she is the centre of attention.
The cuts between the shots also increase in speed to mirror the tempo of the song, switching from long takes at the beginning to short takes.
4TH SECTION:
The fourth secton begins at 2:35 as the verse begins and the beat slows down. Again, a black background is used whilst Ellie Goulding is dressed entirely in red, highlighting further from the handkerchief that the colour red is a key motif within the music video, connoting love, passion and perhaps lust. Andrew Goodwin's theory is present again as his idea of the 'star image' is clear within this music video, as there are many close up shots of Ellie Goulding.

5TH SECTION:
The fifth and final section of the video begins at 3:38 as signified by the change in colours displayed and lighting. The use of the colour red to signify love is a very redundant feature of the video and typical of the indie genre.
